How much are portrait sessions with you?
Prices vary depending on the shoot, but check my 'Rates' page on this website for up to date pricing. I would also recommend following me on Instagram or liking me on Facebook, as from time to time I will announce special deals. Instagram: @melaniegail.ldn | Facebook: Melanie Gail Photography
Do you do a student discount?
Of course! I remember being a student well. Thankfully I lived near a Morrisons.
Why 'Melanie Gail Photography'? Isn't your name Melanie Bright?
It is. Gail is my middle name. Yes, like in Coronation Street. No, not as in 'fierce wind'. It means "Father's Joy", and if it wasn't for my wonderful Dad letting me borrow his camera way back when, I would not be doing this now. Also, Melanie Bright is both my name by birth and my stage name. It feels good to let that remain synonymous with my acting work.
Can I bring my mum/my friend/my pet with me on a shoot?
You can... but I'd prefer if they stayed home. More often than not they are likely to create a distraction for you which in turn will limit our shooting time because you're worrying about what Mumsie thinks or if Rover needs a poo. The exception being if the shoot includes Mumsie and Rover. Under no circumstances can you EVER bring a pet spider.
What is the difference between The Classic and The Editorial?
The Classic is a session based at my home studio and nearby outdoor locations. This is suitable for clients looking for a headshot update and some edgy images for their social media, and models needing more shots for their portfolio. The Editorial is as it sounds; GQ/Vanity Fair vibes at a hired location where we shoot with several outfit changes over three hours. This is ideal for creatives wanting press shots for interviews and social media, professional website overhauls or for vintage-themed photoshoots. For group work, band or musician images, collaborations and corporate headshots for sites such as LinkedIn, please pop me an email using the contact form at the top of this page. Likewise get in touch for a quote on rehearsal images, BTS (behind-the-scenes) work and Wedding Photography.
What should I bring?
This all depends on what we decide to go for with the shoot. For portraits, block colour always looks great. I'd advise bringing a few easy-to-change-into options, especially if we are shooting outside.
I forgot I have the: dentist / an audition / *insert other valid reason here*. Can I reschedule?
A deposit of £50 is required to confirm your booking. This amount is fully refundable if you let me know more than 48 hours in advance that you can no longer make the shoot. It also gives me time to cry about it. We will then reschedule for the next available date we can both do, no stress.
My shoot includes two high-resolution retouches. Can I choose more?
Absolutely! Extra high-resolution images are priced at £10 each.
